It’s that time to empty my phone again as I go from 5S to 6S, so let’s see what my little Apple brick has picked up over the past three months.
Same key fob? Probably.
Show-off kept revving it in a small side street. Douche.
Impala. And Impala.
Those Lexus wheels are ugly as sin. So ugly I had to take a picture of them.
Clownshoe! Sorry about the awful reflection...
One great Bay Area perk...
Is being able to see Tesla prototypes! This was a Model 3 that I chased all the way down Page Mill Rd
That is, until the Camry in front of it let it fly down faster than I could manage in a top-heavy Volvo XC! Just kidding, the Volvo had plenty of punch, it was just the X5 directly in front of me that was being a stick in the mud >:(
That moment when it rains the day of your graduation so you take artsy Volvo pictures beforehand...
Took the van out for a jaunt and this big-bodied Accord sure can boogie!
I’m not kidding when I say that the Odyssey feels more like the V50 than the XC70, the steering is quite delightful for something this big.
A Mexican scene; on the right, a Nissan Platina (i.e. Renault Clio with a trunk); on the left, the most beat-up 928 ever
Now this is a curiosity! The VW Derby, a Polo with a trunk made specifically for Mexico.
Originally based on a Seat, this thing finished production about a decade ago...
But this one is still in service as a Biosphere Preserve Park Service vehicle!
A little Duster looking smug between two huge F150s! I’d love one if they were sold in the States, perfectly small, rugged, and with a stick!
Sure it’s just an ordinary cabover passenger van, but check out those knobbly tires and the zip-tied wheel covers!
To be honest, the front of these NV350s is rather intimidating with the buck-toothed grin; I wouldn’t want to be tailgated by one, that’s for sure!
As nice as the XC70 is, I’m really going to miss this little guy in college. Why are first cars so indelible? Well, that and this thing truly is a great little car, even my dad echos that.
That’s all for now! Thanks for looking, and see you around Oppo! On a side note, are there any recent trips that you’ve been on and seen some esoteric automotive metal?

A non-M Z3 coupe... Now that’s rare!

I detect sarcasm. Again.

No? I’ve honestly seen more M clownshoes that a pedestrian Z3 coupe.

I think I’ve seen equally few, but I’d be surprised if there were fewer Z3 coupes than M coupes; there just have to be more of the former, I assume.

The VW Derby was also sold in Europe sometime in the mid to late 90s and very early 00s dubbed Polo Classic. Even a wagon was produced.

Wow that’s interesting! I guess they found a niche who needed micro-scale estates?

Skoda and Seat both still produce micro estates. I’m quite fond of the Skoda Fabia Combi.

Peugeot used to make some of these too, they were …odd.
And Dacia have their Logan MCV.
Good news!
It’s a brown, diesel, manual, estate that’s still on sale.

I guess the M versions would be more likely kept in better condition due to their desirability, so there might be more of them on the roads by now.

Oh yes, the MCV, the most third-world vehicle on sale in Europe today!
It’s both massive and practically agricultural though, I wouldn’t consider it an ordinary consumer option. The Duster and Sandero are much less ungainly and austere.

Derby also existed in the 70s, same formula, Polo with a trunk:

Looks like a mini Jetta+Passat of the era!
